It’s going to be a difficult and important September for Real Madrid. Here’s why Zinedine Zidane’s men will be put to the test this month.
The Whites are about to start a crucial stretch of matches in both La Liga and the Champions League. Starting from Sept. 14 Real kick-off this difficult stretch with a game at home against Levante. Following this are difficult away games at PSG in the Champions League and Sevilla in La Liga. September then ends with an away game at Atletico Madrid, who are currently at the top of the table. Here’s a short analysis of each fixture and the predicted outcomes from them.
Real Madrid vs Levante 14/09: Levante has proven to be a tough fixture in recent times. The club from Valencia has managed to take away points from Real Madrid, with the Whites only managing three wins from the last six games. The worrying home form is also a big concern for Madridistas.
Predicted outcome: RM 2-2 LEV
PSG vs Real Madrid 18/09: Real Madrid starts their 2019/20 Champions League campaign with an away game at Parc des Princes. PSG have had an excellent transfer window with signings that their coach has needed. This game will be the first of the many difficult tests that Real will face. It will also show where Madrid stand among the top teams of Europe.
Predicted outcome: PSG 2-3 RM
Sevilla vs Real Madrid 22/09: Sevilla is currently second in the La Liga table. Under former Real Madrid manager, Julen Lopetegui, Sevilla look strong title contenders so far. Madrid also has struggled in Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán recently, with their last win at the stadium coming in the 2014/15 season under Carlo Ancelotti. Los Blancos need to win this game if they are serious about their title aspirations.
Predicted outcome: SEV 3-2 RM
Real Madrid vs Osasuna 25/09: Back home against Osasuna, this came could turn out to be a potential banana skin for the Merengues. Sandwiched in between two difficult away fixtures, Zidane may opt to rest his key players. If the bench players play well and win this game, it will be a huge confidence booster for everyone.
Predicted outcome: RM 4-1 OSA
Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid 28/09: Facing local rivals Atleti is never easy for Real Madrid in recent times. The positive fact for Real is that Atleti are yet to register a win in their new stadium, Wanda Metropolitanom against the Whites. The previous fixture at Wanda ended with a 3-1 victory for the Merengues. The last fixture of September is going to be the most important. Atletico, currently top of the table, have won all their games of the new season and look early season favorites for La Liga. If Real manage to win this game, it will put a lot of minds at rest about this team’s ability to compete for the league.
Predicted outcome: ATM 0 – 0 RM
