Real Madrid took care of business at the Bernabeu against Osasuna, winning 2-0 ahead of their bigger battle over the weekend against Atletico Madrid.
Zinedine Zidane knew that Real Madrid’s Matchday 6 tilt against Osasuna would be an opportunity to rotate the squad, as this matchup occurred in between two bigger rival games on the road vs. Sevilla and Atletico Madrid.
But Osasuna couldn’t be taken lightly as a “breather” game either. Coming into Matchday 6, Osasuna were among La Liga’s undefeated teams in 2019-2020. In fact, going back to the second league, they hadn’t been beaten in 16 straight games.
However, Real Madrid sent Osasuna packing with a loss, taking care of business at the Bernabeu by winning 2-0 in a professional display. After struggling to keep clean sheets, Real are now riding high on back-to-back goose eggs in the opponents’ column. Even with Eder Militao, Nacho, and Alvaro Odriozola all starting off the bench in front of the debuting Alphonse Areola, Real looked impenetrable on defense.
There were several standouts from Real’s convincing display in front of their home fans, as not a single player on the pitch played poorly. Even Luka Jovic, who missed a couple of sitters, had positives to take away from his game, including a goal harshly overturned by VAR.
Let’s take a look at the best of the best, though. Here were Los Blancos’ top five performers from the win over Osasuna.
