2. Eden Hazard scores his first

Real Madrid vs. Granada was a game of firsts for so many players on Real Madrid. It was Isco’s first game back from injury, Luka Modric scored his first goal of the season, James scored his first goal since returning, Fede Valverde had his first breakout game, and Eden Hazard scored his first goal and grabbed his first assist in a White kit.

Hazard had been the subject of much scrutiny for not having a standout performance with Real, and that was inevitable. Players at Real Madrid are always under a special kind of pressure, and that’s especially true for a superstar like Hazard, who was purchased for nine figures on the transfer market this summer.

While Hazard showed flashes in his other game, he never supplied the end product, nor did he boss games like he did at Chelsea. Finding more confidence and chemistry with his teammates was key, and that seemed to be happening against Granada.

We saw Hazard roaming around the pitch more freely, popping up in dangerous areas centrally and even on the right side. He was getting more teasing passes from the midfield and looked more confident on the ball.

That confidence shined through on his goal, as he secured Valverde’s looping pass before chipping the ball over Silva for a delicious finish. Hazard then grabbed an assist by working well to maintain possession before finding Modric, who did the rest with a thunderous strike from outside the box.

The Belgian superstar is now off the mark at Real, and it will be exciting to see what he does in the rest of October, especially with El Clasico looming.
