Real Madrid: The 5 best individual games at October break
Toni Kroos vs. Osasuna
Like Casemiro, Toni Kroos has also been brilliant all season long for Real Madrid, but his best performance was probably against Osasuna, too. (Shoutout definitely goes to his opening game against Celta Vigo, in which he scored his lone goal of the season thus far.)
Kroos was magnificent, pinging passes all over the pitch with his usual metronomic efficiency. The center midfielder thrived in an advanced role against Osasuna, recording an assist for Vinicius Junior’s wonder goal and finishing with three key passes. In eight La Liga appearances, Kroos has recorded three key passes on seven occasions.
Additionally, Kroos looked lively defensively, recording two tackles and providing plenty of pressure on Osasuna’s back line. Zidane used him in a role that suited him better, and this was a sharp response to the critics who harped on Kroos’s defending against PSG.
Kroos was less exposed against Osasuna and more free to roam offensively. Per WhoScored.com, Kroos also completed 94.4% of his passes with a pair of crosses and 10 long balls.
This was another all-action display from the German superstar, who has been world-class in 2019-2020 for Los Blancos. There will surely be more goals and assists to come for Kroos after the October international break, though he’ll need to mend from an adductor injury first.
