Gareth Bale vs. Villarreal

Gareth Bale has put together a quality season for Los Blancos thus far, and he made the highlight reels last week with a brilliant outside-the-boot assist into the box for Karim Benzema. But his best performance of the campaign remains his Matchday 3 effort against Villarreal, in which he carried the team to a tie against a strong “Yellow Submarine” side.

The Wales international grabbed a brace against Villarreal, with only a late red card souring his performance. Bale’s goals against Villarreal capped off a strong start to the season before the September international break, as he also assisted in the opener against Celta Vigo and looked lively on Matchday 2 in a 1-1 tie with Real Valladolid.

In every game this season, Bale has provided an end product or looked like a real threat to score. Even when Real failed to get on the scoring sheet against top-tier opponents like PSG and Atletico Madrid, Bale still made his presence felt, even getting a goal disallowed against PSG.

Hopefully, the goals will continue to come for Bale, whose two strikes against Villarreal remain his lone goals of the season in either Champions League or La Liga play. Based on the form he’s shown this season, it looks like fans should not doubt the notion that more goals will be on their way shortly.
