CF Karim Benzema

Karim Benzema has consistently been one of Real Madrid’s top performers this season, and he is right there with Toni Kroos and Casemiro as players in the argument for being Real’s MVP so far in the 2019-2020 campaign.

On Wednesday, Benzema scored from the penalty spot, came close to scoring a second time, and recorded two assists in yet another all-action display. Benzema has been one of La Liga’s top scorers this season, and he continues to be one of the absolute best No. 9s in the world when it comes to setting up teammates.

With Toni Kroos hitting his stride as a goal-scorer and Rodrygo emerging as a legitimate starting option (two goals in three appearances says a lot about his readiness), Benzema’s ability to put teammates in dangerous positions will become even more important. And that’s not even taking into account the slowly growing chemistry between him and Eden Hazard.

Benzema finished with three key passes in this game, bringing his season average up to 1.6 per game in La Liga. That’s a strong clip for a guy who has also hit home seven goals in nine appearances, putting him on pace for a 25-30 goals this season.
