Like Casemiro, Toni Kroos has been untouchable so far in the 2019-2020 campaign. The attacking midfielder has been busy threatening goalkeepers with dangerous shots from range, and he grabbed a second goal in an eight-day span, putting Real head 2-0 in just the eighth minute of this match.

Kroos was second on the team with 69 passes, completing nearly 95% of his attempts in yet another top-notch display in the center of the park. The German sets the tone whenever the ball is at his feet, and he’s been far more incisive this season both as a passer and shooter.

A key to victory for Real Madrid in any given week, Kroos had three crosses, seven accurate long balls, and one key pass. Normally, Kroos is good for more key passes than just one, as he’s leading the team with three key passes per season.

But the key passes were provided more by Karim Benzema and Rodrygo in this one. Kroos played his role in the victory by scoring an early goal and doing plenty of damaging passing to help build attacks for Real, whose forwards were far more lively in creating chances. Benzema, Rodrygo, and Hazard all excelled in this regard, so Kroos played a different role in stringing together plays for his accomplished teammates.
