RW Rodrygo

At this point, the conversation isn’t about whether or not Rodrygo should get minutes over Lucas Vazquez; that much is obvious. No, now it is a matter of whether or not he should start over Gareth Bale. It may seem far-fetched for an 18-year-old to usurp one of the biggest names in world football, especially since Bale has recovered his form before this latest injury. But that’s how good Rodrygo has been and how important he is to his team’s future.

Rodrygo needed just seven minutes into his third appearance to score his second career goal for Real, but he didn’t stop there.

Like against Galatasaray last week, Rodrygo was lively on the ball, causing problems all over the pitch for Leganes’ overmatched defense. Rodrygo recorded three key passes, which is impressive enough. But the statistic that stood out to me the most was Rodrygo’s four interceptions to lead the team.

Next. Toni Kroos is stepping up as a scoring option. dark

That’s an incredibly impressive stat for any winger, but especially an 18-year-old. Rodrygo is wise beyond his years in all facets, and the effort he puts in defensively is incredible. Lucas who? Rodrygo is here to stay.

At this point my only question is, how many more goals does this incredible player have in him as a rookie for Real?
