Rodrygo will earn his third straight start against Real Betis on Saturday, and Real Madrid fans are ecstatic to see the young star in the lineup again.

Real Madrid fans expected Rodrygo to get the start on Saturday against Real Betis, because the club announced that Vinicius Junior would be in the squad over Lucas Vazquez after being dropped at mid-week against Leganes.

While Vinicius is also a wide player, he usually plays on the left side, whereas Rodrygo has become a go-to player on the right in Gareth Bale’s absence due to injury. So since Vinicius was in and Vazquez, Bale, and James were out, Rodrygo looked like a safe bet to start.

Real officially announced that Rodrygo would be in the starting lineup against Betis, with Luka Modric starting over Fede Valverde to get his first start in a long time. Modric has recently returned from another injury over the international break last month, and fans are excited to see more action from him after the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner scored an absolute screamer against Granada.

But most of the hype was left for Rodrygo, who has become a massive fan favorite with two goals in three La Liga appearances. He was amazing against Galatasaray and Leganes in both of Real’s wins after the 1-0 loss to Mallorca, and he should have another big game against Real Betis.

Valverde and Modric in a time share is best for both players, and the friendly competition should make everyone in midfield better.

It’s also awesome to see Ferland Mendy in the starting lineup. He’s been out since his masterful performance against Sevilla at the Sanchez Pizjuan on Sept. 22. Mendy should have a fantastic game in his return from injury, as he’s one of the best defensive left backs around.

Barcelona stumbled in a 3-1 loss to Levante that has caused the club further embarrassment, so Real Madrid should be able to leapfrog them in the table for the No. 1 spot. All they need to do is take care of business at home against a Betis team that is 16th in the league and literally the worst team defensively.

Given his goal-scoring record, Rodrygo could add another against Betis’ shoddy defense, and Real fans are more than excited at the prospect of the 18-year-old grabbing another big goal for his new club.
