CM Toni Kroos

Another week, another great performance from Toni Kroos, who is neck-and-neck with Casemiro – and probably Karim Benzema and now Rodrygo – in the tight and entirely hypothetical MVP race for Real Madrid.

Kroos completed 97 passes with a 91.8% completion rate, providing two accurate crosses and eight accurate long balls, per WhoScored.com. He added two more key passes to his running record, as he remains Real Madrid’s leader in key passes per game.

The Germany international was solid defensively, pressed effectively, and continued to keep things ticking in midfield with his precise passing. In all honesty, this wasn’t Kroos’ most impressive game of the season, but that’s why it’s easy to take him for granted. He’s always keeping things humming in midfield, even when he isn’t banging home the goals – as he did for Real Madrid’s lone goal in their first win over Galatasaray – or setting up teammates with assists.

Kroos has become a key to victory for Los Blancos whenever in the lineup, and he was a constant threat. As expected, he completely dominated Galatasaray’s midfield and helped set up Sergio Ramos’ penalty goal in the first half. There are few center midfielders who are on his level of class or form right now.
