Real Madrid will be out for revenge on Nov. 26 when they take on PSG in the Champions League, as their 3-0 loss to the Ligue 1 giants in September is still fresh on their minds.
Although Real Madrid are coming off a convincing victory over Galatasaray in the Champions League and are in a clear position to advance to the knockout stages, they likely won’t feel satisfied with their performance in the competition thus far if they don’t avenge their opening loss to PSG.
Despite not having to face superstars Edinson Cavani, Neymar (suspension), and Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid were embarrassed 3-0 at the Parc des Princes, suffering a defensive meltdown against the likes of former Real star Angel Di Maria and former Real rival (at Sevilla) Pablo Sarabia.
But while Real are a much better team than they were in September, the same can be said for PSG. Di Maria is still on great form, Mauro Icardi has displaced Cavani as the team’s superstar striker, and Mbappe is healthy and banging home the goals. Right now, PSG look like early favorites to win the entire competition.
Real Madrid will have the homefield advantage on Nov. 26 and vengeance on their mind when they face PSG in the rematch, but PSG may also have an ace up their sleeve.
According to MARCA’s Andreas Vou, Neymar is close to returning from an injury that he suffered during the October international break. Per MARCA, the Brazilian superstar, who was on Real’s radar this summer, is targeting Nov. 26 as his return date.
Injuries have prevented Neymar and Mbappe from playing together at the same time in the 2019-2020 campaign, but both have been as amazing as ever when on the field. Real’s defense is riding a streak of four straight clean sheets and are getting much better goalkeeping from Thibaut Courtois, but an attacking trio of Icardi, Neymar, and Mbappe would be a tall task for any defense to handle.
Neymar’s recovery from injury will be one of the biggest storylines for Madridistas to watch closely, as fans are more than familiar with what the former Barcelona standout can do when he’s at his best.
