Real Madrid has a plethora of quality players to choose from in the midfield, which causes headaches for manager Zinedine Zidane. On Tuesday night in the Champions League, the boss will have to decide whether or not Toni Kroos and Luka Modric should return to playing together once again.

It has been very interesting seeing Zizou juggle his lineup from match to match. We have seen Toni Kroos feature heavily thus far this campaign and with 15 appearances thus far, it’s clear that he is in the midst of his prime and has all the confidence in the world.

As for Luka Modric, it has been a roller coaster three months, but, after scoring his second goal of the season and adding two assists in Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Real Sociedad, the debate has garnered more attention.

Throw Fede Valverde’s phenomenal performances in the last month into the mix, as well as the return of form from Isco, and there is a serious debate going on here. In what is being considered by many to be the toughest game of the season so far, Real Madrid must win at home to give themselves a chance at finishing top of the group.

In order to do this, Zidane must go with his tried and true midfield trio of Casemiro, Kroos, and Modric. The La Liga match over the weekend against Deportivo Alaves is not as much of a priority as this Champions League clash against a talented PSG squad, so, all three should start and play a huge part.

Kroos and Casemiro have been utilized frequently already this season, but these are the matches where the midfield will decide the outcome.

Kroos is having one of his best season’s since joining Real Madrid and Modric should be able to carry his great performance from Saturday into this match and play a huge part.

Modric did not start the match in the Parc des Princes the first time these two sides met, but his involvement in this contest will and should make a huge difference.

The trio of Casemiro, Kroos, and Modric has won so many titles for Real Madrid, it’s hard to argue against the three of them starting. They managed to shut down Paris a couple years back in the knockout stage, and I see the same thing happening again Tuesday night in front of the home fans.
