Although Real Madrid blew the game in the final 10 minutes by giving up a quick succession of goals, they thoroughly outplayed PSG for most of the match.

Real Madrid players will be kicking themselves after blowing a 2-0 lead in the final 10 minutes against PSG, as they allowed a goal in the 81st minute to possible future Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe and a goal in the 83rd to former Sevilla man Pablo Sarabia. Both goals came off of defensive breakdowns, with star center backs Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane ending up with egg on their face.

As bad as those mistakes were and as heartbreaking as this 2-2 draw was for Madridistas, Zinedine Zidane still has an abundance of positives to take away from this match at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Firstly, Real Madrid showed that they can create a bevy of chances against top competition, as this was the most vulnerable PSG’s steely defense looked this campaign. Los Blancos nearly had 30 shots on Keylor Navas‘ goal, and if the keeper weren’t so determined to make big saves against his former team, they could have ended up with five goals.

Therefore, this 2-2 draw wasn’t your typical 2-2 draw. Here are five players who shined for the better part of 90 minutes and deserve kind words for their individual performances.
