Real Madrid currently sit behind FC Barcelona in the league table by one goal in the goal differential column, but here’s why Zinedine Zidane’s squad is actually the class of La Liga.

After a slow start to the 2019-2020 campaign, Real Madrid have found another gear. They were undefeated in November, even putting together a fabulous performance in their 2-2 draw with PSG in the Champions League. Their attack is clicking with Eden Hazard playing a starring role, the defense had a streak of five straight clean sheets at one point, and Zidane is making all the right moves in the manager’s seat.

Real, however, still find themselves one spot behind FC Barcelona in the league table. Barca nearly dropped points to Atletico Madrid over the weekend, but a wonderful first-time goal from Lionel Messi, who did Toni Kroos proud with that longshot, rescued La Blaugrana.

Barca may still be in first place, but they have failed to look convincing this season. Real Madrid have had their own bouts of inconsistency in 2019-2020, but lately they have shown why they are an elite team.

Here are three reasons why Los Blancos are the league’s best squad right now. And it all starts with the man at the top.
