Real Madrid: Predicting every match result for December 2019
Real Madrid has slowly recovered their form and is currently playing their best football. But what does December hold for Los Blancos?
2019 wasn’t a good year for Real Madrid. Having missed out on all the titles by March of this year, the club has slowly recovered and has finally started to look like title challengers, especially in November.
While the club had relatively easy games in November, the month of December is going to be a whole different story.
With difficult back to back away games vs Valencia and FC Barcelona, the Whites are going to have to dig deep to prove their title credentials. There is a lot of optimism around the club right now and hopefully, this optimism continues into the last month of the year as Madrid look to put a dreadful 2019 behind them. Here’s a short analysis of each fixture and the predicted outcomes from them.
Real Madrid vs Espanyol 07/12: First up for Real in December is Espanyol at home in La Liga. One of the only two home games this month, this match is expected to be the easiest fixture of all the games.
Espanyol is currently languishing in the relegation zone, having won only two games and drawn three this season. They are also the team to concede the most goals in La Liga this season with 28 goals. And with Real in such imperious goal-scoring form, a heavy win is expected by most people. Zidane will also look to rotate certain players to give his “A-team” enough rest before their games against tougher opponents.
Predicted outcome: RM 4-1 ESP
Club Brugge vs Real Madrid 11/12: The last game of the Champions League group stages this season, Los Blancos head to Bruges for this game. With Real Madrid having already qualified for the round of 16, this game will hold little meaning for the men in white. But Club Brugge managed to hold the whites to a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture, so Los Blancos could be motivated to pay back in kind. This will be another game where rotations can be expected and where Madridistas can expect to see fringe players in action.
Predicted outcome: BRU 0-3 RM
Valencia vs Real Madrid 15/12: The start of the real test for Los Blancos. Traditionally a tough stadium to play at for Los Blancos, with the Whites managing to win only two of their previous six games at Mestalla. This game will be expected to be difficult as well. Valencia is also currently unbeaten at home in La Liga this season and is on a nine-game unbeaten run at home in the league according to WhoScored.com. Real Madrid is going to have to play well from the very start and ensure they win this game so that they head into the Clasico level on points with Barca.
Predicted outcome: VAL 0-1 RM
Barcelona vs Real Madrid 18/12: The biggest match of the season. Eternal rivals Barca are currently 1st in La Liga on goal difference. While Los Blancos are tied with them on standings, the Whites have undoubtedly been the better team this season so far.
But when it comes to El Clasico, the form has never really mattered as both teams have proven in the past. Los Blancos will want to win this one though as they have been winless in the past six Clasicos in the league. Win this game, and it will be beyond doubt that Real Madrid is finally back to it’s best.
Predicted outcome: BAR 1-3 RM
Real Madrid vs Athletic Bilbao 23/12: Last game of the month and year, Los Blancos will be finally back home after three away trips. Athletic Bilbao is just five points behind Real and in the fifth position. Real usually play well and win vs Athletic at the Bernabeu and the same will be expected this time around too even though the opposition is a good team and in-form.
Predicted outcome: RM 4-1 ATH
By the time December ends, everyone will have a good idea of what this Real team is capable of and what exactly can be expected from them.
