Real Madrid loanee Oscar Rodriguez is in his second year of a loan deal with CD Leganes, and he may have put together his best performance on Matchday 16.

CD Leganes came into Matchday 16 as La Liga’s last-place team with only six points through 15 games, but they may have picked up a crucial three points on Matchday 16 to jump past Espanyol in the league table on goal differential.

They jumped to a 2-0 lead at the half against fellow relegation candidates Celta Vigo, who are in 18th, courtesy of two goals from Real Madrid loanee Oscar Rodriguez. The 21-year-old is in his second year of a loan deal with Leganes, and he has been one of the team’s lone bright spots this season.

And his two first-half goals against Celta Vigo? They were absolutely incredible.

The above goal was Oscar’s first. He lined up the free kick and hit a beautiful curling effort with plenty of power that left the keeper stunned. As in, the keeper was rooted to his spot and could only “admire” the trajectory of the ball as it nestled into the postage stamp of the goal.

As incredible as this free kick goal was, Oscar’s second strike of the opening 45 minutes may have been even better.

After some tidy build-up play from his teammates, Oscar secured the ball and still had an awful lot of work to do. He unleashed a venomous strike from well outside the 18-yard box, putting a sick amount of dip on his shot to leave the keeper floundering out of desperation.

Oscar’s first-half brace against Celta Vigo now gives him four goals in the 2019-2020 La Liga campaign, which puts him in the team lead at Leganes. Both Martin Braithwaite and Youssef El-Nesyri had three goals apiece going into Matchday 16.

While Oscar isn’t one of Real Madrid’s top prospects, the 21-year-old attacking midfielder has plenty of ability and has shown it at times this season. This first-half performance was certainly one of those occasions, and here’s to hoping he continues to make highlight reels throughout the 2019-2020 La Liga campaign.
