Real Madrid will face two stiff tests over the next several days, as they must travel to Barcelona and Valencia to take on two squads also headed to the Champions League Round of 16.

Although Real Madrid already had a place in the Champions League Round of 16 locked up before Wednesday, they made a statement by defeating Club Brugge 3-1 behind goals from Luka Modric and young stars Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo. The front three reminded Real fans that the future is indeed bright in Madrid, as Luka Jovic also made a positive impact despite not scoring.

But the present is also bright for Madrid. Los Blancos have looked like the best team in La Liga for most of the 2019-2020 season, in addition to being serious Champions League title contenders under Zinedine Zidane. Their stretch of games before the holiday break will test Real, who must travel to Valencia on Sunday before facing FC Barcelona at Camp Nou next Wednesday.

Real Madrid are the favorites against Valencia, but it won’t be easy. Valencia are climbing up the table, clicking in the Champions League, and notorious to beat at home.

Here are five players on Los Merengues who need to play at a high level in order for Zidane’s side to pick up all three points.
