Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos made a few goal-saving plays against FC Barcelona, including a heroic clearance off the goal line in the first half that resulted in an injury.

Although Real Madrid and FC Barcelona shared the spoils at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night, Los Blancos were clearly the better side. But Barca still had their chances, so the likes of Thibaut Courtois and Sergio Ramos were kept busy.

Ramos made a number of crucial interventions to maintain the clean sheet, but no play was more important than his clearance at the goal line in the 31st minute. You can follow this link to watch a video of his sensational play.

The Real Madrid captain put his body on the line to block the shot, but it came at a cost. Ramos may have suffered an injury on the clearance, which would explain why Eder Militao warmed up on the sideline in case.

Ramos was able to continue in this all-important game and finished off the 90 minutes with a strong second half, showing no ill effects from this injury.

But make no mistake, Ramos is hurt. COPE reports, via @Ultra_Suristic, that Ramos played through a sprained ankle in the second half, and his status is now in doubt for Sunday’s game against seventh place Athletic Bilbao.

Real will already miss all-important defensive midfielder Casemiro, who had a Man of the Match caliber performance in El Clasico, after the Brazil international finally picked up his fifth yellow card of the 2019-2020 La Liga campaign.

Not having Ramos would be a tough blow against a solid team like Bilbao, but Real have a great backup center back in Eder Militao, who has been sensational whenever called into action this season.

Hopefully, Ramos returns from this ankle injury soon enough, because Los Blancos are already dealing with a long-term absence from a superstar struck by an ankle injury in Eden Hazard. The Belgian was clearly missed at the Camp Nou, but Ramos’ contributions through injury were likewise much appreciated by Madridistas.
