Real Madrid right back Achraf Hakimi has shown his goal-scoring ability and versatility on loan with Borussia Dortmund, but no matter how much Michael Zorc loves the loanee, there’s no way he stays in the Bundesliga for another year.

The future couldn’t look any brighter for Real Madrid. Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior are future superstars at the forward position, Eder Militao will be a world-class center back one day, and breakout star Fede Valverde is already a must-start in the center of the pitch. And with Martin Odegaard and Achraf Hakimi tearing it up on loan deals, Real may get two star players back from loan deals in 2020-2021.

Odegaard’s loan deal doesn’t expire until after 2021, but there are increasing signs that Florentino Perez may be persuaded to end the loan with Real Sociedad early. Meanwhile, Hakimi will be back with Real at the end of the 2019-2020 season, because this is the second year of his loan deal with Borussia Dortmund.

Hakimi has played so well for the Bundesliga title contenders that their leadership has made it clear they want to pursue every option to keep the talented fullback, who can start on either the left or the right side.

In fact, Carlos Forjanes of AS reports that Michael Zorc is dreaming of a third year with Hakimi on his squad on yet another loan deal. However, this is just about impossible to envision, as Forjanes reports that Zinedine Zidane does not see current young right back Alvaro Odriozola as part of the future plans.

Odriozola is OK, but he is not Real Madrid quality as a starter, which is why Dani Carvajal has started nearly every game at right back this season. Hakimi has his question marks defensively, but he is impeccable on offense. His vision as a passer, skill on the ball, finishing, pace, and shooting range from outside the box make him a dangerous player. Few fullbacks in the world can add to the attack quite like Hakimi, who is one of the Champions League’s leading scorers this campaign.

The 21-year-old Morocco international is clearly a huge part of the future at Real and is a far superior player to Odriozola. Hakimi will be the long-term starting right back for Real, and his ability to play on the wing or as an inverted fullback on the left side only adds to his value. Dortmund can keep dreaming and are well within their right to want another year of this supremely gifted player, but Hakimi will be a huge part of Real’s “Revolution”.
