Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard has been one of La Liga’s finest players this season during his loan spell at Real Sociedad, and he’s played so well that Los Blancos will reportedly recall him early from his loan deal.

There have been so many rumors swirling about Martin Odegaard’s future with Real Madrid. He’s put together several magnificent performances in the first year of his two-year loan spell at Real Sociedad that many Madridistas have wondered if the club should simply recall Odegaard from his loan as soon as possible.

Others, however, believe the full loan deal will reap even more rewards for Madrid and Odegaard, given how much the young Norwegian is enjoying his football there.

According to a report from Carlos Forjanes of AS, Odegaard will return to Real Madrid in June after only one year at Sociedad. Both clubs planned on the 21-year-old, who scored a brilliant free kick and made a genius assist on his birthday last week, spending two years on loan. But Odegaard has been brilliant beyond the expectations of either club.

Forjanes notes the great relationship between Madrid and Sociedad, meaning La Real wouldn’t be upset with Florentino Perez if he were to recall Odegaard’s loan a year early. Odegaard can be a key starter in Zinedine Zidane’s Revolution as a young, exciting attacking midfielder with an eye for goal, incredible vision, quality dribbling, and relentless pressing in the final third. In other words, he’s a perfect fit for the way Real Madrid play.

Odegaard had four goals and five assists in the first half of the 2019-2020 season at Sociedad, and that would have made him the second-leading scorer for Los Merengues behind Karim Benzema. His end product in the attacking third would be a welcome addition to Madrid, where the likes of Isco have played well but haven’t been able to find that killer pass nearly as frequently as Odegaard can.

Nothing is set in stone, but it’s looking more and more like Odegaard will continue to outplay expectations and earn himself an early trip to the Santiago Bernabeu for the 2020-2021 season. But until then, Madridistas and fans of La Real can enjoy watching Odegaard run the show for his current club in the second half of the season.
