Real Madrid were loosely linked to Liverpool star forward Mohamed Salah this past summer, but they are now reportedly showing interest in his even more prolific teammate Sadio Mane.

Liverpool’s front three is the envy of most teams in the world, as Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane work as a deadly, in-sync unit under Jurgen Klopp’s leadership. They are the reigning champions of Europe and look set to absolutely run away with the Premier League in 2020. So it’s no wonder why Real Madrid have interest in the most prolific goal-scoring forward in the Reds’ side.

According to a report from Le10Sport, Madrid have reached out to Sadio Mane’s representation to get a feel for his interest in a move to Los Blancos. The report states that manager Zinedine Zidane would like to see Mane work with Karim Benzema.

The chances of this deal happening are basically zero. Mane will most likely re-sign with Liverpool, and if the Reds did want to cash in on the 27-year-old at his peak value before any decline begins, Real probably wouldn’t be the destination. They already spent more than 100 million euros on a star left forward this summer in Eden Hazard and are budgeting as much money as possible for the younger and even more talented Kylian Mbappe on the right.

So expect Mane to stay in Liverpool for the forseeable future. That said, it is good to see Real doing their due diligence on another top goal-scorer in the Premier League. The club does need more of a scoring threat, especially with Gareth Bale continuing to play under his potential and Rodrygo still improving as a top 18-year-old prospect. Plus, Mane was one of the top five players in the world in 2019.

Real Madrid have also been linked to Manchester City standout Raheem Sterling, but he is also unlikely to move to Los Blancos at any point in the near future. Mane and Sterling are too important to their teams, as City and Liverpool would conceivably do anything to keep both superstar wingers.
