Real Madrid have been linked to Christian Eriksen for months, but it’s becoming quite obvious that the Denmark international’s most logical landing spots are elsewhere in Europe.

Tottenham had been optimistic about their chances of re-signing Christian Eriksen, whose contract with Spurs expires upon the end of the 2019-2020 season. However, this optimism was misplaced, as Eriksen has always had designs on joining an even bigger club, with Real Madrid holding particular interest to the Denmark star.

At one point, Los Blancos seemed like strong contenders to sign Eriksen at either a heavily reduced price this winter or on a free transfer next summer. But with Isco, James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric all playing well in the attacking midfield – and Marco Asensio recovering well from his ACL tear – Eriksen is a redundancy. If Real want another midfielder, backup for Casemiro would be the wiser option.

And now, it seems like there are two emerging favorites for Eriksen. Firstly, GdS report, via @Ultra_Suristic on Twitter, that PSG have offered Eriksen 12 million euros per year in wages until 2025.

PSG have deep pockets, but that deal seems rich even by their standards, especially for a 27-year-old player. But Eriksen’s skill-set should age nicely, and he could be the playmaker the club needs as a final piece to win the Champions League. They need to win the Champions League in order to convince Kylian Mbappe to stay amidst massive interest from Real Madrid.

So PSG looks like a strong option for Eriksen. Certainly, a more likely option than Real, who don’t need to spend that kind of money on his wages with better options in their team.

Meanwhile, multiple reports in Italy, via Football-Italia.net, report that Inter Milan are prioritizing Eriksen as a winter signing for manager Antonio Conte.

Inter have been title contenders in Serie A and are currently ahead of regular winners Juventus in the table on goal differential. Eriksen could help Inter secure the title, as his keen passing could help unlock even more goals from superstar strikers Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez. Inter clearly have a bigger need for Eriksen than Real and should also be seen as a more likely landing spot for the Denmark international.

If Inter cannot sign Arturo Vidal from FC Barcelona to bolster their midfield, then Eriksen could be a “go”. And honestly, Eriksen might be a smarter purchase for Inter than Vidal.
