CD Tacon will miss two of their best players for Saturday’s game against Sevilla, as Sweden internationals Kosovare Asllani and Sofia Jakobsson are out with illnesses.
Although it’s been a predictably rocky first season in the Spanish top flight for CD Tacon, Real Madrid’s soon-to-be women’s team has shown signs of rebounding in the second half of the 2019-2020 season.
Tacon have climbed up to 11th in the table and have only lost one game since the start of November. And that loss was something of a moral victory, since Tacon only fell 2-1 to Atletico Madrid, who are right there with FC Barcelona as a powerhouse club in Liga Iberdrola.
However, Tacon could be headed for another rough outing on Saturday against Sevilla, because two of their best players are out with illnesses.
According to the official CD Tacon Twitter account, Sofia Jakobsson and Kosovare Asllani are unavailable due to illnesses. At least goalkeeper Ana Valles and midfielder Kaci will be back in the lineup for Tacon, who do have one more healthy Galactica in rising star Chioma Ubogagu.
Jakobsson has been Tacon’s best player this season, and Asllani’s leadership and world-class ability will also be sorely missed against Sevilla. But if Tacon can pull off the win without these two players, they will leapfrog Sevilla in the standings, as Sevilla are in ninth but have only one more point than Tacon in the table.
Hopefully, Jakobsson and Asllani can get well soon, as it must be frustrating to miss a game due to illness. These two world-class athletes leave it all on the pitch, so you can only imagine how much it hurts them to miss out on this game.
CD Tacon need Jakobsson and Asllani back as soon as possible, too, because they will have to face rivals and league leaders Barcelona next. And judging by their blowout loss to Barca in the season opener, Tacon will want to step it up in their second women’s Clasico.
