Real Madrid have been closely linked to Flamengo attacking midfielder Reinier, and it sounds like they are on the cusp of signing the promising goal-scorer ahead of interest from their arch rivals.
Florentino Perez has been making all the right moves when it comes to signing up-and-coming stars before they truly break out. Real Madrid signed Rodrygo, Eder Militao, and Ferland Mendy this past summer, and all three look like future superstars. Vinicius Junior, Takefusa Kubo, Martin Odegaard, Achraf Hakimi, and Luka Jovic are among the other talented young players on Los Blancos’ books.
But that hasn’t stopped Perez from scouring the planet for more top players. Not only have Los Blancos been linked with Ligue 1 center midfielders Eduardo Camavinga and Boubakary Soumare recently, but they have also been mentioned heavily as suitors for Flamengo’s Reinier.
And now, it looks like they are about to sign the 17-year-old Brazilian.

According to a report from Venê Casagrande, via Infinite Madrid on Twitter, Los Merengues are “very close” to signing Reinier.
The reporter adds that FC Barcelona also attempted to sign Reinier, but talks between Flamengo and Real have “intensified” recently.
Reinier’s release clause is currently 30 million euros and will be 35 million euros in the summer, but either price is affordable for a talented young prospect.
Real, for example, paid more to acquire Rodrygo this past summer. Negotiations are said to be “very advanced”, with Real wanting to finish the deal “now”, per Casagrande via Infinite Madrid on Twitter.
Additionally, Cahê Mota reports, via Real Madrid Info on Twitter, that Flamengo are expecting an official offer from Los Blancos “very soon”.
The deal is “imminent”, but the final price is being worked on and is expected to be near the summer release clause of 35 million euros.
Reinier is coming off a solid season for Flamengo with six goals and two assists in 14 league appearances, with only eight of those appearances being in the starting lineup. He clearly has a world of potential, even if there’s not enough data to truly project his development at such a young age.
Real Madrid are after the best possible young players, and it looks like Perez is about to secure another one. Getting him over interest from Barcelona is huge for Real, and they continue to do a much better job than their rivals at signing top young talent around the globe.
