Real Madrid star forward Eden Hazard has been out since late November with an ankle injury, and Zinedine Zidane has now definitively ruled him out of the Spanish Supercup to start 2020.

There is no doubt that Real Madrid have sorely missed Eden Hazard in what has now been more than a month without their major summer signing. Hazard may not have lit up the stat sheet in the goals and assists departments, but the was one of the best players in La Liga.

The Belgian had a sensational month of November before falling to an injury against PSG, starting counterattacks with ease and proving impossible to take the ball off of.

Real Madrid reportedly expect Hazard to return in late January or early February, which means there’s optimism he will be ready for the second “Derbi” of the season.

But until then, Hazard is out of action. Manager Zinedine Zidane recently confirmed to reporters, via ManagingMadrid.com’s Lucas Navarrete, that Hazard is “100-percent ruled out” of the upcoming Spanish Supercup.

This news comes as no surprise to Madridistas who were following injury updates on Hazard closely. Real are prioritizing La Liga and the Champions League – and rightfully so.

Therefore, there’s is definitely no need to risk Hazard aggravating a serious ankle injury by pushing him to play in a series of matches in a new tournament.

Undoubtedly, Real want to win the tournament, but having Hazard 100-percent healthy is much more important, especially with one eye peeled on Manchester City in the Champions League Round of 16.

We continue to wish Eden Hazard the best in his recovery going forward. He has been greatly missed by everyone, and fans will undoubtedly cheer forcefully when he returns to the pitch.
