Real Madrid are preparing to face Getafe on Saturday in La Liga, and they may get a boost if the opposition’s best player is unable to feature due to an illness.

Los Blancos are looking to get the year 2020 off to the right start after finishing the first half of the campaign with two frustrating goalless draws.

Although Real Madrid thoroughly outplayed FC Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao in both of those matchups, they could not find the breakthrough goal, causing more questions to be asked of their attack’s efficiency.

They will have the opportunity to answer those questions on Saturday against Getafe. This matchup is one Real should win comfortably, but their offense will be tested by one of the league’s best defenses on the road.

More from The Real Champs

Only Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Athletic Bilbao have allowed fewer goals this season than Getafe. And Los Blancos never scored against either Atleti or Bilbao.

Zinedine Zidane’s squad could get the boost in the form of a key injury to Getafe. Part of Real’s struggles are due to Eden Hazard’s ankle injury, as they have clearly missed their best player.

However, Getafe may also be without their star man.

Per MARCA, it’s possible Jason will be unable to play on Saturday, as the right midfielder is suffering from gastroenteritis.

It seems like Jason should at least make the matchday squad, but it’s difficult to anticipate if he’ll start or not.

And if he does, it’ll be interesting to see how effective he is, especially against stout defensive left back Ferland Mendy, who has shut down the likes of Lucas Ocampos this season.

Jason has been a star for Getafe in 2019-2020, as the former Levante man leads his team with four assists. Per WhoScored.com, he also tops the team in key passes per game and dribbles completed per game.

MARCA also reports that 23-year-old backup Kenedy, who has been a quality bench option on the left side, is expected to be out entirely due to an injury he suffered in December.
