Real Madrid plays Valencia in the semi-final of the Spanish Super cup being held in Saudi Arabia.

Los Blancos will be hoping to snag their first official trophy of this season in the form of the Spanish super cup. While the Spanish Super cup doesn’t hold too much importance for the fans, it will still be a huge morale-booster for Real Madrid if they manage to win this one. The Whites will be facing Valencia for a place in the final.

Madrid managed a very late draw against them in December in the league and will be hoping to win this one. Valencia is always a tough opponent to beat but here are the three keys to securing a win against them.

1. Fitness and rhythm
In the first game back from the winter break against Getafe, Los Blancos struggled to get their game going. Even if Madrid managed to win quite comfortably in the end, this was one of the worst performances of the season in terms of offensive gameplay.

This was primarily down to two factors, one being Getafe’s brilliant pressing scheme and other Los Blancos’ lack of rhythm. When the Whites are on song they can pick apart any pressing scheme they come against thanks to the number of press-resistant players in the lineup. But due to the lack of fitness and rhythm in the lineup after the break, Real Madrid struggled. Of course, this was to be expected considering it’s just a natural occurrence.

But if the Merengues are to win against Valencia they’ll have to quickly reach their top rhythm and play extremely well. Valencia will also undoubtedly come into the tournament extremely motivated to win it considering it will be a great chance for them to win some silverware this season so Los Blancos will have to be ready to play at high density.
