Real Madrid are first in La Liga, in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey, and have their sights set on a Champions League title. Here are five bold predictions for the remainder of the 2019-2020 campaign.

We are halfway into the season and Real Madrid sit right on top of the league table, are through to the quarter finals of Copa Del Rey, and have already won the Spanish Super Copa. Few could have predicted this after the horrible showing in preseason where some Madridistas wanted Zinedine Zidane out.

Come January, Real Madrid has the best defence in Europe and has been unbeaten since Nov. 20. They’ve done this without their main star Eden Hazard. Real look likely to win the league title, and James Rodriguez could give the club a further boost by staying for this season.

Here are five predictions for the rest of the season.

1. Real Madrid win the domestic double

Before the season, I predicted Zinedine Zidane’s side to end up with the league title, but the way the manager has set his side up and the way team has looked halfway through the season, it is likely that Real ends up with more than one trophy.

Zidane is taking the Copa del Rey more seriously than before due to the change in format this season. He knows there’s no margin for error in a single knockout tie, and that’s why he went with strong squads even against second and third division sides.

Real Madrid are already leading the league table by three points and have the best defence all across Europe with just 13 goals conceded in 21 games. All this with players like Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio not available for the majority of the season.

The team is again showing that never give up spirit – or the “Juanito” spirit as they call it – one can draw some parallels with the 2016/17 season. The victories against Valladolid away or the one against Sevilla at the Bernabeu shows the team is ready to fight until the last minute, and each and every player is ready to chip in.

Real Madrid have 18 different goalscorers so far this season, which clearly shows everyone has contributed and tried filling up for the 50-goal void left by Cristiano Ronaldo.
