Real Madrid had a dominant January, winning all of their eight matches across the Spanish Supercup, La Liga, and Copa del Rey. Here are five players who have been set up for a massive February.

FC Barcelona faltered last week against Valencia, and Real Madrid finally took advantage of their arch rivals dropping points. It wasn’t pretty, but they found a way to grab all three points against Real Valladolid at the Jose Zorrilla.

This week, Madrid followed up their big win to move into first in La Liga with an even bigger victory, as they finally scored in regulation against crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid. The 1-0 win over Atleti in El Derbi enabled Real to potentially build some distance between themselves and La Blaugrana at the top of the table.

In all, January was a dream month for Real Madrid. Even with Eden Hazard still out due to an ankle injury, Los Blancos still won every single one of their eight matches. No losses. Not even a draw. Whether it was the Copa del Rey, Spanish Supercup, or La Liga, Los Merengues found a way to put together the winning formula against the opposition.

Here are five players who are poised for a big month of February.

LW Eden Hazard

Let’s start with Eden Hazard, who is a rather obvious pick for this list. Hazard wasn’t listed in the squad for El Derbi, and Real have wisely been cautious with their best player. The Belgian international showed the full range of his incredible talents in November before his ankle injury against PSG, and his return to the lineup will make Los Merengues potentially the worlds scariest team heading into the Champions League knockout stages.

Real Madrid will face Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City on Feb. 26 at the Santiago Bernabeu for the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16. Hazard will be healthy by then, making Real the favorites over a team struggling to give Liverpool healthy competition in the Premier League.

Expect Hazard to have a few games to shake off the rust, but something tells me he’ll have a special performance in store for the home fans against City.
