The start of 2020 was one to remember for Real Madrid as the club continued its undefeated run, won the Supercopa, and took top spot in La Liga. Who were the biggest contributors this month? Here are the top five.

It’s difficult to narrow this list down to five players when the team does not lose or even draw a match over the course of a month. While Real Madrid played to a 0-0 stalemate in 120 minutes of play in the Supercopa final against Atletico, they ultimatley prevailed on penalties.

To go an entire month undefeated while participating in three different competitions is a feat Zinedine Zidane should be acknowledged for and his ability to manage his personnel to perfection has been one of the biggest factors.

Trying to include a player from every position group, here are the top five Real Madrid players from the month of January.

Thibaut Courtois

I mentioned over the break in late December that Thibaut was having a record-breaking season at Real Madrid and the Belgian international has not slowed down.

In five appearances in January, Thibaut allowed three goals and was instrumental in the Supercopa victory over Atleti. His performance in the penalty shootout showed how confident he is now between the posts.

He earned Man of the Match honors in the final for the first time this season and managed to keep three clean sheets this month. Though he sat out the two Copa del Rey fixtures, it was still another phenomenal month for Courtois.

All the doubt surrounding him back in October has faded into oblivion and Madridistas have been loving the world-class saves and the confidence the goalkeeper exudes. Despite the ever rotating personnel in the back line, Thibaut has been a star.

If he can keep this form up, Real Madrid will win more trophies.
