Goalkeepers

Thibaut Courtois: 9/10

Real Madrid’s starting goalkeeper has been in impressive form ever since the Champions League game against Club Brugge where he allowed two first half goals.

He continued his form into this month and made some impressive saves when called upon. Of course, Real Madrid’s newfound defensive strength has limited the shots he faces, but he saves what little shots do come his way.

Alphonse Areola: 8/10

For the first time in quite a few years, Madrid has more than a decent backup keeper. Areola only featured in two games this month, both in the Copa del Rey, but performed admirably.

He managed to keep a clean sheet against Real Zaragoza and made a crucial save vs Unionistas in the round of 32 which prevented Los Blancos from being put under extra unnecessary pressure. While he’s far from displacing Courtois as the starting keeper, it’s good to know the team has a great backup keeper in their ranks.
