LB Ferland Mendy

Mendy is becoming even more active in attacks, charging up the pitch with late runs to support his teammates. With Isco drifting inside, Mendy’s work rate on the left flank was super important in this game. Defensively, Osasuna could do absolutely nothing to trouble him. He is in a class of his own at left back when it comes to pure defensive work.

Rating: 7.5 out of 10

CB Raphael Varane

Clean, smart, and competent as usual. Varane made a ridiculous block in the final 20 minutes of the match to deny a sharp volley from outside the box. He is one of the best defenders in the world without any shadow of a doubt.

Rating: 7.5 out of 10

CB Sergio Ramos

Active and aggressive, frustrating Osasuna’s attackers with his strength while showing plenty of attacking intent. He was never going to miss with that golden opportunity in the box. In the second half, Ramos provided plenty of cover and snapped into tackles, reminding everyone why he’s one of the world’s elite players. And as usual, his passing was impeccable.

Rating: 8.0 out of 10

RB Dani Carvajal

If Trent Alexander-Arnold is the best right back in the world at crossing, then Dani Carvajal is second. He created two golden opportunities for Gareth Bale and was a constant threat to Osasuna’s defense. And his own defensive work was rock-solid, as he was eager to cover for others.

He picked up another yellow card in the second half for an off-ball foul on an indirect free kick.
