Moise Kean signed with Everton this past summer, and while he hasn’t found his form in the Premier League, that hasn’t stopped clubs around Europe, such as Real Madrid, from monitoring the young forward’s situation heading into the summer 2020 window.
At Juventus, Moise Kean established himself as one of the best young players in European football. The youngest competitive goal scorer in the Italy national team’s history, Kean scored six goals in 13 Serie A games last season, showing his potential to be one of the most dangerous strikers in the game.
However, Kean left this past summer to Everton, who were aggressively assembling a squad of top young attacking players around Richarlison. Kean joined for a fee of around 30 million euros, which was more than a fair price for a promising teenage striker with a positive 2018-2019 campaign on the pitch for one of Europe’s best clubs.
According to a report from Defensa Central, via TeamTalk.com, Kean is one of “several names” on Real Madrid’s shortlist at the striker position.
Real Madrid already purchased one of Europe’s best strikers from the 2018-2019 season in Luka Jovic. It is already difficult for Jovic to find playing time behind Karim Benzema, who is one of the top three strikers in the entire world. But even in his limited playing time, Jovic has shown his world-class potential, including a backheel assist against Sevilla in January and a great finish to seal a 4-1 win over Osasuna.
So Real already have a great Benzema replacement in a few years in Jovic. However, if they can get Kean on a discount, then there’s no harm in hedging their bets on another young forward. The issue is that Kean would need game time, so Real would either have to loan him or have him compete with Jovic, who, again, has already found it hard to scrounge for minutes behind Benzema. Just ask Mariano Diaz how competitive the forward position is at the Santiago Bernabeu!
At 19, Kean has a world of potential, and even though he’s struggled in limited minutes with Everton, there’s no reason to think any less of his talent or potential. He’s a great young player. It’s unlikely Real Madrid sign him due to their own crowded forward situation, but Kean is a player who has the kind of quality Florentino Perez should at least monitor.
