CM Luka Modric

Luka Modric is coming off a wonderful performance against Osasuna, and even though he’s scored one goal with no assists since the calendar turned to 2020, he’s been in exceptional form over the past five games.

The Croatia international is as good as ever, and Modric has quieted doubters in his stamina by showing more fight than anyone on the pitch at the end of games. Modric is full of running and often saves his best for last, helping Real Madrid start counterattacks.

Modric’s quality defensive work, turns in midfield, passing, and technical quality in the final third will make him one of the standouts on the pitch against Celta Vigo. He’s fully expected to start, and given the form he’s in, you would bet on him to make a goal contribution this Sunday.

CB Sergio Ramos

Like Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos is in the midst of an incredible season, and he put on another defensive masterclass in last week’s 4-1 win over Osasuna, especially after Los Blancos tightened up defensively after a cagey first 15 minutes.

Ramos is completing 90.4% of his passes, putting him behind the robotic Toni Kroos as the team’s most accurate passer. His ability to help support the attack is incredible, and there clearly isn’t a better center back in the game’s history at providing an attacking impetus. Look no further than last week’s win over Osasuna in which Ramos scored the go-ahead goal, getting himself wide open to head home after a brilliant assist from defensive midfielder Casemiro.
