Lautaro Martinez

A striker on Inter Milan’s books who is currently scoring goals at a high rate for the club, Lautaro Martinez has drawn interest from Real Madrid and their rivals FC Barcelona.

Martinez has been one of the biggest breakout stars of the 2019-2020 season, as his striker partnership with the even more impressive Romelu Lukaku has been crucial to Antonio Conte‘s Inter challenging Juventus for the Serie A title.

With his incredible pace and non-stop motor, Lautaro is one of the most dangerous strikers in the league and creates a wonderful pairing with Lukaku. Both men balance their strengths well, and, like Mauro Icardi, Lautaro scored 5 times in his first 6 Champions League appearances.

In Serie A, Martinez has scored 11 times. Per WhoScored.com, he’s also shown real danger whe on the ball, drawing 2.4 fouls per game and winning 1.3 dribbles per game.

A complete player, Martinez’s lone weakness is his inaccurate passing. But Real Madrid wouldn’t be paying Inter for Martinez’s passing. They have passers between the likes of Isco and Toni Kroos. What they need are goals.

The problem is that Lautaro would cost more than 100 million euros. Does he score enough goals to justify such a price tag? The 22-year-old has a bright future ahead of him, but since Real want the best of the best and Haaland and Mbappe both score more goals at younger ages, Lautaro isn’t a preferred option.
