Timo Werner

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has only recently been linked to Real Madrid in transfer rumors, as many fans assumed Bayern Munich would get their hands on Werner. However, Leipzig will do everything in their power to ensure that their biggest Bundesliga rivals for the title don’t secure the signature of the league’s second-best young goal-scorer behind Erling Haaland.

Werner could very well join Liverpool, and they look like the favorites to land him. However, don’t rule out Florentino Perez and Real Madrid, because if they truly want to sign the Leipzig superstar, it’ll be awfully hard for Werner to turn them down.

Before the 2019-2020 season, Werner was a good player but was limited creatively and inefficient. He talent and plenty of speed to burn, but he lacked consistency. He wasn’t quite Real Madrid quality.

But now, Werner is one of the best attackers in Europe, having blossomed under the ingenuity of Julian Nagelsmann. Werner is even more clinical than in years past and is more comfortable floating around the formation. His passing has improved by leaps and bounds, as has his reading of the game. Werner is an infinitely more intelligent player than before Nagelsmann.

This season, Werner has 25 goals and 8 assists in all competitions, and he doesn’t look like he’ll stop any time soon. He’d be an intriguing option for Los Blancos due to his versatility, though he isn’t quite as heavily on their radar as Haaland or Kylian Mbappe.
