Real Madrid will be looking for more goals this summer, and while Kylian Mbappe seems to be their top choice, they have long been rumored to have some interest in England international Harry Kane.
Although Karim Benzema started the season brightly and was neck-and-neck with Lionel Messi in the race as La Liga’s top goal-scorer, the Real Madrid striker has been dealing with a rough dry spell in front of goal over the last few months. Benzema has always been known as more of a “creator” as a No. 9 than a “scorer”, so this hasn’t come as a major shock to Madridistas.
Real Madrid have interest in center midfielders, but they are most interested in signing a top-notch goal-scoring forward this upcoming summer. PSG’s Kylian Mbappe has always been the dream signing, but Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland has recently emerged as a great option due to his incredible Bundesliga Rückrunde thus far.
However, it appears a third name may come into play. According to a report from Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane “is getting itchy feet” with the club due to their abysmal performances this season.

Kane has been out injured again, and Spurs have looked lifeless.
The new additions haven’t been able to make as much of an impact, as Spurs have not been playing inspired football in either the Premier League or in the Champions League, where they were recently embarrassed in the Round of 16 by RB Leipzig.
Per Jones’ report, Real Madrid “will only” show interest in Kane if they are not able to pursue Mbappe.
PSG have been understandably doing whatever possible to make sure Mbappe remains in Paris, but if his heart his set on a dream move to Madrid, there’s only so much the Ligue 1 giants can do.
FC Barcelona are also reportedly interested in Kane. But it is worth noting that, per the report, Kane prefers to stay in the Premier League. Changing leagues can be difficult, so this would make sense from his perspective.
As for Real Madrid, a move for Kane doesn’t seem advisable. Kane is a great finisher and target man who can be a lethal striker, and he can provide the presence Real has been missing in the box. The problem is that this isn’t necessarily Real’s style of play.
Tottenham are reportedly looking for 150 million pounds for Kane, which is an absolutely ridiculous price. At no point has Kane shown he’s worth that kind of money, especially in light of his recent play and injuries. Real Madrid would be much better off spending on Mbappe or Haaland, who are both younger and better players.
Kane could make a great deal of sense, stylistically, for a team like Manchester United or Barcelona. But Real should pursue Mbappe and Haaland as hard as they can before thinking about spending that much money on Kane.
Even if Spurs are forced to reduced their asking price to something more realistic, the moving parts involved, such as Kane’s potential trepidation at leaving Spurs for Spain, make this a deal that isn’t worth pursuing seriously. Real should do their due diligence, but Kane shouldn’t be seen as a top option.
