If the season is actually over, who is Real Madrid’s player of the year?

Fede Valverde

The Uruguayan has been a revelation this year for Zidane and has caused an even greater headache when it comes to choosing a starting XI.

Valverde has pushed James Rodriguez to the bench and has even been chosen over the geat Luka Modric several times this season.

Fede has already played twice as many minutes as he played a season ago and has already doubled the number of starts from a year ago as well. Most importantly, his work-rate, intelligence on and off the ball, and dedication to the badge have already made him a fan favorite.

Before this season, Valverde had not scored or registered an assist playing in the Uruguayan league or while on loan with Deportivo La Coruña. He has two goals and four assists in 22 appearances.

Don’t forget that this guy is about to turn 22 and has shown how crucial he can be in big matches. He started both Clasicos and the Champions League tie with Manchester City in Madrid and was stunning in all three.

Could he pull the upset and be named Real Madrid’s player of the year? Or should he be considered the breakout player of the year?
