Real Madrid center back Eder Militao has only spent one season with Los Blancos, but he’s already generating interest from a Premier League club.

Although Eder Militao took some lumps at the end of the season, including when he started at right back against the excellent Nabil Fekir of Real Betis, he had a successful first season with Real Madrid.

Militao was the club’s backup center back behind the top-notch duo of Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos. He showed particularly good chemistry with Varane, as the two could cover a lot of ground together and were among the most composed defenders in La Liga.

Real Madrid purchased Militao for a cool 50 million euros from FC Porto last summer, and the 22-year-old looks poised to be worth more than that in the coming years. He is mature beyond his age and is difficult to be one-on-one due to his tenacious defending and recovery speed.

Militao’s positive traits have earned him interest from a legendary, former Madrid manager who knows a thing or two about assembling a great defense.

According to a report from Sky Sports, via Alberto P. Sierra of AS, Militao is one of six players on Jose Mourinho’s wishlist for Tottenham Hotspur this summer. Marcel Sabitzer, who owned Tottenham in the Champions League, and La Liga defensive midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia are among the others.

A rising star, Militao would be a big catch for Spurs. The problem is that Real Madrid will try to generate a profit from Militao after recently purchasing him for 50 million euros and likely being encouraged by what they saw, despite certain attempts in the media to tear down the young man’s confidence.

Real Madrid have been assembling a roster of young stars as part of their “Revolution” under Zinedine Zidane, and Militao has the potential to be a successor to Zidane. And it would be best, financially, to wait to sell Militao, especially since it is uncertain what transfer prices will be in the summer market. Or when the summer market will take place.

Mourinho’s interest in Militao is unsurprising, because he would be the perfect fit for Spurs defense due to his stylistic traits and upside. However, Real Madrid should be careful with any attempts to sell Militao, since they are unlikely to get fair value.
