Real Madrid: 3 reasons why Isco can be the guy
2. His quality has never been in dispute
Nobody has ever doubted Isco’s individual talent. Injuries and consistency have been mentioned as issues regarding the 27-year-old midfielder, but rational fans have always understood that he has the quality to be a world-class No. 10 at Real Madrid.
In 2016-2017, Isco had a special season with Real Madrid, who had one of the most dominant teams in the modern era that year. He set a career-high with 10 goals and added 8 assists, showing the type of quality in the final third that Real could need in 2020-2021.
At 27, Isco is more mature, and if he can stay healthy, he should technically be in the prime of his career as an attacking player.
But let’s go back to 2016-2017. Isco completed nearly 90 percent of his passes, averaged 1.8 dribbles per game, and drew 1.4 fouls per game. He was a menace on the ball and even more dangerous when near the goal, scoring some breathtaking curlers when cutting in from the left.
Isco’s scored more than 5 goals on four different occasions in his career and has recorded more than 5 assists in five seasons.
He flashed that same ability near the end of 2019-2020 against Manchester City, Osasuna, and FC Barcelona. Isco’s dazzling skills on the ball, accurate passing, and deadly accuracy from distance will all be on display in 2020-2021. He just needs Zidane to keep showing faith in him.
