Last summer, Real Madrid left back Marcelo was linked with a move to Juventus, and it sounds like the Serie A giants will work to bring him to the club this summer, too.

There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding the upcoming summer transfer market, but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from swirling in March. Real Madrid left back Marcelo is the latest star player to be involved in transfer rumblings.

Marcelo is one of the greatest players in Real Madrid history and one of the best fullbacks we’ve ever seen. The left back is a liability defensively at this stage of his career, but he remains one of the best attacking fullbacks due to his brilliant passing and awareness on the ball.

Although he can still play a role for Los Blancos, the team now has two of the best young left backs in the world in Ferland Mendy and Sergio Reguilon, who were the league’s top two players at the position in 2019-2020.

Therefore, it’s realistic for the 31-year-old to make a move elsewhere, and it seems like a reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus could be on the cards.

According to MARCA’s Jose Felix Diaz, Maurizio Sarri and Juve want to add more options at fullback, and Marcelo could be a great, veteran backup behind star man Alex Sandro. Former Real Madrid player Danilo can fill in on the left, but Marcelo would be a more intriguing option.

La Stamp reports that Juventus are prepared to give Marcelo a four-year deal, which is two years more than the player’s current deal with Los Blancos. This means Juventus would have Marcelo signed through the age of 35, which is an investment in a player who is still effective but has shown signs of decline.

It would be sad to see Marcelo go, but at least he would receive more playing time at Juventus and still compete for trophies at a top club. He also has a great relationship with Ronaldo, so the two would get to spend their final years connecting in the attack and competing for Champions League trophies like they did at their peaks for Real Madrid.
