Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are two of the best young players in the world right now, and there’s a slight chance Real Madrid could snag both superstars in 2020 and 2021.

Nobody knows exactly how the summer transfer market will work this year, but Real Madrid have their eyes on the best young attacking players in the world. They know they need a new primary scorer to take the load off Karim Benzema, who is more of an all-around presence in the attack than a straight-up scorer.

Jadon Sancho is the top attacking player who will certainly be available, but Real Madrid may want to go in a different direction after spending more than 100 million euros on Eden Hazard last season.

If Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe is available this summer, Real could pounce on one of them. Either player would be a game-changer for Real, as both are already among the best players in the world despite being under the age of 22.

But could Real Madrid end up with both superstars?

ESPN FC’s PSG expert Julien Laurens recently said, via PSG Talk, that Los Blancos could sign both players IF Mbappe doesn’t sign a contract extension with his current club.

Mbappe has been closely linked to Real Madrid over the past several months, and the club has seemed optimistic that their patient operation will eventually prove successful. However, Mbappe is from Paris and was enjoying a highly successful 2019-2020 season with the club, even amidst the links to Real and the speculation of a fractured relationship with Thomas Tuchel.

If PSG don’t extend Mbappe, his transfer value could plummet to 200 million euros in 2021, per Laurens, which means Real Madrid could afford to sign Haaland this summer and then sign Mbappe on a “discount” in 2021.

Real Madrid have long targeted 2021 as the realistic transfer period to sign the French superstar, because PSG have been working hard to negotiate with the player and don’t seem interested in even considering a sale this summer.

Therefore, Real will hold out hope that Mbappe continues to dream of playing under Zinedine Zidane at the Santiago Bernabeu and wait and see if he avoids giving into a lucrative extension with PSG.

If so, an attacking trio of Eden Hazard, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe may actually be a possibility, as slim of a possibility as it may seem to us in March 2020.
