Real Madrid could finally sign Paul Pogba in the summer 2020 transfer window, as the player prefers Los Blancos over his former club.

The links between Real Madrid and Paul Pogba will never cease until the center midfielder either pens a new contract with Manchester United or officially transfers elsewhere. And while his agent or a member of the Red Devils occasionally made it seem like a renewal was possible, it’s becoming clear that Pogba will be moving teams sooner rather than later.

Pogba’s time with United has been a difficult one, to say the least. After unfairly drawing the ire of Jose Mourinho, who was quite clearly out of ideas as manager, in 2018-2019, Pogba has been recovering from injuries in 2019-2020.

Although Real Madrid’s interest in Pogba has been questioned due to the emergence of young box-to-box midfielder Fede Valverde as a true star, Zinedine Zidane seems to remain keen on managing a midfielder who has a chance to win a Ballon d’Or at a club like Madrid.

According to a report from Marco Ruiz of AS, there are more signs pointing to Pogba signing with Real Madrid this summer, and he reports that the player prefers to sign with Real over reuniting with Juventus or re-signing with United.

While United have done whatever they can to keep Pogba, including asking for a bloated transfer fee from Madrid last summer when they were interested before Valverde’s emergence, it seems like the ship has sailed. Pogba needs a change of scenery, and Juventus or Real Madrid would do more for his career at this point.

On paper, Juventus have the greatest need, but Los Blancos have always seemed like the dream destination for Pogba, who has a great rapport with Zidane. And while don’t necessarily need Pogba, he’s so good that, at the right price, it may be hard for Perez to say no.

Pogba is the type of player who can transform an entire attack with his shooting range, passing range, technical quality, and tactical awareness. He is a complete player who will unselfishly work for his team, as exemplified by his incredible performances in France’s World Cup triumph.

The question is, with the summer transfer window’s prices up in the air, will Real be interested in buying? Pogba has only one year left on his contract, so Real are in the driver’s seat if Pogba is desperate to join them. And since Juve are reportedly a secondary choice for Pogba behind Los Blancos, that could give them far more leverage, even when negotiating with United.
