After only Karim Benzema stood out as a scoring option for Real Madrid last season, Los Blancos desperately need to sign a highly productive scorer, preferably a wide forward who can partner up with Benzema, this summer.

Real already added left winger Eden Hazard last summer, and while he is capable of scoring, he’s more a workhorse in the attack who begins chances. Los Blancos need someone with a killer instinct in front of goal.

Here’s why Los Blancos should consider the player who chose FC Barcelona over them many years ago and has been trying to make up for the mistake ever since. Some say the mistake was his decision to leave Barcelona and step out of Lionel Messi‘s shadow, but he would have won more Champions League titles if he never stepped into the shadows of Messi and Luis Suarez at the Camp Nou to begin with.

Now, Real don’t have to sign Neymar, but they should at least strongly consider pursuing the PSG superstar with his teammate Kylian Mbappe – Real’s clear top target – unavailable this year.

He is an incredible talent who is right there with Messi as the world’s current best, and the only issue with acquiring Neymar would be the possible down-the-road impact of signing Mbappe.
