3 reasons why Real Madrid should seriously consider Neymar
Hurting a rival
There is no doubt that Real Madrid are in a better position as an organization than FC Barcelona right now, and it often seems like Barça are held together by the once-in-a-lifetime talent of Lionel Messi. Their board is in trouble, they are losing the recruiting battle when squaring off against Los Blancos for top prospects, Real outplayed them in both Clasicos, and they have several aging or underperforming players.
However, when the 2019-2020 season was suspended, it was Barcelona who were ahead of Real Madrid in the league table and in a better situation in the Champions League. And the season prior to that, Barcelona were an Anfield comeback away from a Champions League title, whereas Los Blancos were by far the competition’s biggest disappointment.
Future indicators state that Real will dominate Barcelona soon, but as long as Messi is around and the club still has other talented pieces, that’s not a guarantee. Real cannot stay complacent, and they must continue to build a dominant squad. They have so many great players of the future, but how about the present? Who is a global superstar and difference-maker besides Eden Hazard?
Neymar is on another level from Hazard or anyone else on the team. He’s the one attacking player who could truly challenge Messi as La Liga’s best, and given how much he thrived in a playmaking role in Paris last season, there’s a chance he could outshine Messi under a much better manager in Zinedine Zidane.
We could actually see a different, better, and more complete Neymar in Real Madrid under Zidane, and the opportunity to make sure Neymar never goes back to Barcelona is one Los Merengues should seriously consider pouncing on.
