There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic’s future, but don’t expect the club to consider selling him this summer.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Napoli, and other Serie A clubs have been linked to Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic, who burst onto the scene as a potential world-class player at Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2018-2019 Bundesliga campaign. Real quickly snapped him up, on the recommendation of manager Zinedine Zidane, signing him to a 50 million euro deal.

Jovic didn’t make much of an impact in 2019-2020 with Karim Benzema as the starting striker, but he did show his potential in flashes. The Serbia international created a couple of goals from backheel assists and also had an emphatic finish against Osasuna in the second half of the season.

Even though the rumors suggest that Real Madrid could give up on Jovic in search of a better striker to usurp Benzema as the primary scorer, Los Blancos wisely don’t appear to be interested in doing such a thing.

According to a report from Tomás Roncero of AS, Los Merengues won’t give up on Jovic and will be patient with the player signed through 2025. More specifically, they are not planning on selling Jovic this summer, as they will already likely lose Mariano Diaz, who needs to seek playing time elsewhere.

Real have eyes on Erling Haaland, but it doesn’t mean Jovic’s time is up. It just means that Real know they need more talent in the attack, and Haaland is such an exceptional No. 9 that he’s worth pursuing. Ideally, Los Blancos would find their goals by signing Kylian Mbappe, but with no prolific wide forward available, Haaland could be the best scoring option this summer.

Jovic has massive potential, and Los Blancos are aware of just how high he can go. His 2018-2019 season in Frankfurt was no fluke, and he had a couple of special moments in limited playing time for Real this past season. The club knows that with Jovic, they are playing the long game.
