Real Madrid received key contributions from several young players in 2019-2020, but who makes the list of the biggest breakout stars?
When the 2019-2020 La Liga and Champions League seasons were suspended, Real Madrid sat second in the league table and were behind in the Round of 16 against Manchester City. But they were more competitive in both competitions than in 2018-2019, with a large credit going to several young players in the squad.
Real Madrid also had several standouts loaned out across Europe in 2019-2020, and a few of those talented young players were among their league’s best players. Real Sociedad’s Martin Odegaard and Borussia Dortmund’s Achraf Hakimi were the most notable among those loanees.
But who were the biggest breakout stars for Los Blancos in 2019-2020? It’s not easy to narrow it down to only three names, but there were a trio of players under the age of 25 who enjoyed fantastic seasons with the team, taking on even more responsibility in the most recent league campaigns.
Out of these three players, two of them were first-team regulars for Real Madrid this past season, while one of them was a standout at another club who managed to show his best against Los Merengues in head-to-head competition on multiple occasions.
