With football taking a break, it’s time to look back at the top five moments of the season so far for Real Madrid.

The 2019-20 season has been pretty eventful for Real Madrid. The club has moved on well from the horror story that was the 2018-19 season. Los Blancos are 2nd in the league, behind FC Barcelona by two points. Madrid is in the Champions League round of 16, where they’re in a slightly disappointing position after losing the first leg 1-2 against Manchester City at the Bernabeu.

The club also won the new format Spanish super cup in Jeddah in January, defeating Valencia and Atletico Madrid along the way. There were some great moments along the way and here are my top 5 moments of this season.

5. Clean Sheet vs. Sevilla

Los Blancos traveled to Seville on September 22 to face Sevilla in La Liga after a 3-0 thrashing from the hands of PSG. This was a tricky period for the club as they had important fixtures lined up ahead, ones that threatened to derail the club’s hope for any titles this season.

The buildup to this game looked negative considering Madrid hadn’t won away to Sevilla since the 2014-15 season under Carlo Ancelloti. The fans also had the PSG thrashing on their minds and the Madrid derby that was set to take place a week after the Sevilla clash.

With the odds seemingly against them, the Whites rose to the challenge and eked out a win, even managing to keep a clean sheet. It wasn’t a typical Madrid win with the emphasis on defending and not on attacking as always. Such was the defensive effort from the team that they did not allow a single shot on target for Sevilla. It wasn’t glorious but the team got the job done. It also was the turning point of the season for Madrid as they got an immense confidence boost defensively and started keeping clean sheets consistently.
