3. Courtois assist for 95th min. equalizer

Real Madrid traveled away to Valencia for another tough away fixture in the league. Traditionally a difficult place to play at, Los Blancos had struggled at the Mestalla in recent times and the trend seemed to continue when Madrid struggled in the game after a spell of early domination. Valencia soon went on the front foot and looked liked the side to score first.

While Madrid’s new-found defensive resilience tried to hold, Valencia finally managed to break the Whites’ defense. Carlos Soler put Valencia ahead at around the 78th-minute mark. With only 12 minutes remaining to equalize and find a possible winner the Whites began to push hard but the Valencia defense refused to be broken down. But just like the way, Valencia managed to break the Madrid defense, the Whites finally managed to score at the very end.

Los Blancos managed to win a corner at the very end of extra time, in the last play of the game. With it being the last play, Courtois decided to come up and attack and won a header from the corner. While the Valencia keeper managed to save the shot but Karim Benzema scored the rebound.

It was an unlikely winner with help from an unlikely source. The Whites who seemed to have lost all three points returned home with a valuable one point.
