Real Madrid have one of the better midfields in European football, but one more standout player could seal their group as the continent’s best.

Zinedine Zidane and Florentino Perez need to focus on signing a world-class goal-scorer for Real Madrid this summer, but they won’t ignore other potential ways to benefit the squad. Based on the types of players linked to Los Blancos heading into the 2020 summer transfer window, they may also have eyes on a center midfielder.

With so much veteran talent in midfield, such as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, the club will ideal target young rising stars. Attacking midfield isn’t much of a need, but a couple of these options could play there as needed.

Here are five possible center midfield targets for Real Madrid in the summer of 2020.
